RYA VHF (Marine Radio)

RYA Powerboat Level 2 (RYA PB2) offers a general introduction to power boating and teaches core boat handling and safety skills. The course is popular both with beginners and those who are self taught and now require formal certification.

The Managing Safely Refresher course is designed to provide continued support to managers in dealing with health and safety issues in the workplace. Specifically the course aims to: Revise key management responsibilities from the original Managing Safely course Update relevant changes in good practice, guidance, legislation and standards

This is a great 4 Day course is for new skippers who intend to undertake short passages in familiar waters by day.

A great 2 day course to introduce you to motor cruising and undertaking short in-shore trips, such as through a harbour or down river to the local beach. Time is focused on developing the core slow speed handling skills and good ‘seamanship’ skills.

The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio. This includes both fixed and hand held equipment using international channels.

RYA First Aid gives you some knowledge so that in a medical emergency, you may be able to save lives, especially when you are in a remote location or at sea. This course is unique, as it is aimed at water sports enthusiasts and small craft operators, it takes a realistic look at the levels of First Aid that can be performed in a yacht, powerboat, dinghy or ocean rowing boat.

The RYA Day Skipper theory course will provide you with a comprehensive introduction to chartwork, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship for competent crew. The course will equip you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge of lights is also included to introduce you to night cruising. This programme will provide delegates with an understanding of health and safety requirements relating to their work activities. It will highlight organisational and human influences on safety at work and focus on a range of risk control measures essential to company activities. It will help to develop an approach to safe working, using the principles outlined in Successful Health and Safety Management HSG65 together with the more fundamental tried and tested techniques of health and safety management.
