Project Planning & Control supports the publication of the APM's guide, ‘Planning, Scheduling, Monitoring and Control – The Practical Project Management of Time, Cost and Risk.’ It provides guidance and best practice for project planning and control and is applicable across all industries and sectors.
Description
The Foundation-level qualification aims to measure whether the candidate has sufficient knowledge and understanding of the Project Planning & Control guidance to be able to act as an informed member of a Project Support Office or Project Planning and Control team.
A successful Practitioner candidate will have demonstrated that they have achieved sufficient understanding of the theory and application of the tools and techniques to allow them to work successfully in a Project Support team environment.

This is an intensive five-day virtual course that includes the following:

- The Planning, Scheduling, Monitoring and Control – The Practical Project Management of Time, Cost and Risk manual
- The cost of the PPC Foundation and Practitioner examination (must be taken online via remote proctor within 12 months of purchase)
Exam Format
Foundation exam:
- Multiple Choice
- 50 questions per paper
- 25 marks required to pass (out of 50 available) – 50%
- 40 minutes duration
- Closed-book
Practitioner exam:
- Complex multiple choice
- 8 question paper with 10 marks available per question
- 40 marks required to pass (out of 80 available) – 50%
- 200 minute (3 hrs 20 mins) duration
- Open-book (Project Planning & Control guide only)
Pre-course
There is mandatory pre-course work that must be under taken prior to attending this course. In addition, whilst attending the course there will also be some exam preparation evening work.
Prerequisites
The are no formal pre-requisites for the Foundation level. It is recommended that a Practitioner candidate has a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a planning and monitoring role. In addition, you must have passed the PPC Foundation exam prior to undertaking the Practitioner examination.
