Training Agenda
Welcome:
We set our targets for the session.
Discussion - Managing the Media:
Whether you meet up with a camera crew, go into a radio studio, or find yourself being interviewed via an online platform like Zoom, it’s important that you keep control of the direction of the story. We talk through how to prepare for and deliver impactful interviews, how to find your way through to your key points, and how to keep that crucial control.
Practical 1 - Live Radio:
The bulk of the session is about putting you through your paces in various media formats. We start with live radio. You’ll need to weave in some clear messaging to ensure the audience absorbs what you’re there to tell them, and isn’t overwhelmed with information.
Discussion: Edited Interviews and Facing the Cameras
An interview which is going to be edited is a deceptively difficult format to control. We talk through some techniques to help you steer things as best you can, and then think about how to handle the added pressure of a TV news crew.
Practical 2 - Edited TV Interview:
By now delivering concise and well thought out responses should start to feel like second nature. But can you do it in front of the cameras?
Practical 3 - Live Online TV (optional round, time permitting):
These days many media interviews are gathered via online platforms such as Zoom and Teams. We talk through some tips and techniques to help you look as professional and credible as you can, before our final interview of the session - live online TV news.
