This course is aimed at; Those new to boating (yachting, keel-boating, motor boating, power-boating or coastal rowing) and Those who already have considerable crewing experience and now want to progress
Description
The Day Skipper Shorebased Course aims to provide you with sufficient knowledge to enable them you navigate around familiar tidal and non tidal waters by day and prepares you for progression onto the RYA Day Skipper Sail Practical, RYA Day Skipper Power Practical or RYA Powerboat Intermediate Courses.
The Day Skipper Shorebased course is a navigation course for beginners wanting to progress to Skipper level (either sail or power). The RYA syllabus is designed to introduce students to:
- Basic seamanship
- Navigation
- A basic knowledge of lights
- Meteorology
- IRPCS
When taking a RYA Day Skipper Shorebased Theory course, students will have the opportunity to use the real kit; our classroom is equipped with live Garmin GPS chart plotters and we integrate traditional (paper chart) navigation with the more modern electronic navigation throughout the course.
