Using Compressed Nitrogen
This workshop is designed for people who use, handle or store gaseous nitrogen supplied in compressed gas cylinders.
Description
Workshop Overview
- Outline of workshop content and objectives
- Management of the working atmosphere - the need for ventilation
- Hazards posed when handling and using compressed nitrogen
- Delegates are taken through the aftermath of an incident caused by the release of pressure. The need to use the correct gas control equipment - regulators
- Design and function of cylinder valves. Do’s and don’ts with nitrogen cylinders. Cylinder identification. Using nitrogen cylinders safely
- Do’s and Don’ts when moving nitrogen cylinders
- Key principles in storing compressed gas cylinders safely; includes design, construction, location, segregation and emergency procedures
- Safe working procedures with regulators and hoses
The practical demonstration is conducted on a single nitrogen cylinder provided by the client
The demonstration will cover:
- Visual checks/correct fitting of nitrogen regulators and hoses
- Setting correct working pressures in an ‘open’ system
- Correct leak test procedures
- System de-pressurisation
