OPUS10 Basic Course

This technical course will support delegates in understanding and describing the various mechanisms by which metals and alloys corrode and the technologies available for prevention.

This course will teach you about the welded joint, terminology, steps for successful design, and features of welding processes. You will also learn about edge preparations, weld symbols, residual stress and distortion, defects, weldability, and the strength of welded joints.

Originally designed for the Royal Fleet Auxillary, this course enables candidates to carry out lifting operations safely, and inspect lifting equipment for damage and wear to ensure safety for use. It includes legislation and documentation, followed by chain sling manufacture and repair, and practical inspection of chain, wire and textile slings, shackles and eye bolts.
