The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the underpinning knowledge of Lifting Operations in order for them to understand the role and responsibility of the Appointed Person in lifting operations (APLO). Almost a third of all workplace fatalities involve falls from high places – so safety training is essential for regulatory compliance and your own duty of care to anyone working at height. It’s most effective delivered in your real environment, with your own equipment.

The aim of the course is to provide delegates with practical and theoretical knowledge to safely work at height in the workplace. On successful completion of the course candidates will be able to select the correct height safety accessories, carry out pre-use checks and use equipment safely in the work place.

CONDO training requires that personnel are adequately prepared for operational deployments, and that this training is dependent on a number of factors including the nature and location of the operation, the duration of task and the threat.  

The 1 day CONDO refresher training is required annually under DEFSTAN 05-129 (Defence Standards (Procedures & Requirements)) amended 12th March 2010.

The City and Guilds 6160-09 provides a medium risk entry / entry controller qualification at a nationally recognised level. Covering the fundamental principles of confined space working, any person with any exposure to confined space is recommended to attend this course. Although primarily aimed operatives it is a necessary foundation for all persons looking to progress their understanding of confined space entry.

This course was written by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to assist employers comply withe the HSE First Aid at Work Act (1981). It is the standard qualification for First Aiders in the UK work place and is nationally recognised. It is also the minimum First Aid qualification for anyone wanting to become either an HSE or RYA endorsed First Aid Instructor.

If the worst ever happened at sea and you had to abandon your vessel, would you know what to do? The RYA Sea Survival training course assumes the worst case scenario: that you have to abandon your ship.

The RYA SRC (VHF Radio) course is the shortest of the four GMDSS Certificates and is aimed at skippers and crew of small craft operating in inshore and coastal regions. It is the most common radio certificate for leisure boaters.

This STCW First Aid course is designed for those professional yachtsmen, super yacht crew and seafarers who are required to comply with the STCW 95 code of practice and the STCW 2010 amendments. In the super yacht industry this certificate is required by all crew. In the smaller yacht and the workboat industry skippers operating up to 60 miles from a safe haven can operate with this certificate.

Please be advised that from now on, the STCW Personal Survival Techniques course will be the preferred option for all TKMS Employees. There is no change in course requirements or what is expected on the day. It's the accreditation that is slightly different. If you have previously completed RYA Sea Survival or a similar certification, and your role requires you to complete a refresher course, the STCW qualification is what you will be booked onto moving forward.

This Instructor-led workshop provides safety awareness for all personnel who either use, handle or store liquid nitrogen.

The course is one day for civilians who work or provide a service to submarines. The course is called SMERAS - SUBMARINE, ESCAPE, RESCUE, ABANDONMENT & SURVIVAL and is held in the SMERAS Training Facility in Faslane, Scotland.

Spill Kit Awareness Training is an entry level course suitable for all staff who may be required to deploy spill kits following a spill incident in the workplace.

The City & Guilds accredited Authorised Person Electrical Low Voltage course will enable you to gain the knowledge required to carry out Authorised Person duties and responsibilities in order to achieve compliance with the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, using JSP375 as the reference for safe procedures.

This City & Guilds accredited course will enable you to gain the knowledge required to carry out the role of Skilled/Competent Person (Electrical). It can also assist in demonstrating competence during the formal appointment process.

This 6 day course is a comprehensive introduction to chart work, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship. You will find this course invaluable if you want to learn to start making decisions onboard in terms of safety, passage making, etc.         

A great 2 day course to introduce you to motor cruising and undertaking short in-shore trips, such as through a harbour or down river to the local beach. Time is focused on developing the core slow speed handling skills and good ‘seamanship’ skills.

The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio. This includes both fixed and hand held equipment using international channels.

Originally designed for the Royal Fleet Auxillary, this course enables candidates to carry out lifting operations safely, and inspect lifting equipment for damage and wear to ensure safety for use. It includes legislation and documentation, followed by chain sling manufacture and repair, and practical inspection of chain, wire and textile slings, shackles and eye bolts.

This City & Guilds Accredited Programme is designed to provide delegates with a thorough understanding of Legionella bacteria, the risks it poses, and the necessary control measures to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Legionella bacteria, if not properly managed, can pose serious health risks, including the development of Legionnaires’ Disease, a severe form of pneumonia.

A 2 day, Qualpass accredited course. With the aim of maintaining a broad approach to help students build a reliable knowledge base, this course covers a large spread of topics.

This Fire Marshal training course covers the role of the designated fire marshal (fire warden). You will learn about preventing fires, and about the different types of fire extinguisher and how to use them correctly.

The 3 day First Aid at Work course is our most advanced First Aid course. It provides you with a comprehensive set of skills needed by any first aider at work. 3 days of practical, fun and interactive First Aid training. Gain the skills and qualification needed to be a First Aider on site. After successfully completing the course, you are provided with a certificate which is valid for 3 years. This complies with the Health and safety at work act 1974.

The 2 day First Aid requalification course is a condensed version of the 3 day First Aid at Work course whereby we cover all topics in 2 days rather than 3. Only students who hold a current 3 day First Aid at Work certificate or a certificate that hasn’t expired by more than 28 days can attend.

This course is unique, as it is aimed at water sports enthusiasts and small craft operators, it takes a realistic look at the levels of First Aid that can be performed in a yacht, powerboat, dinghy or ocean rowing boat.

This is an advanced course in navigation and meteorology for candidates for the Coastal Skipper and RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased Certificate

This programme will provide delegates with an understanding of health and safety requirements relating to their work activities. It will highlight organisational and human influences on safety at work and focus on a range of risk control measures essential to company activities. The RYA Day Skipper Motor (Power) Course includes boat handling safety and navigation skills and is aimed at new motor cruiser skippers. Any UK citizen or bona fide resident who achieves the Day Skipper Power is automatically eligible for the ICC (International Licence) for powered craft (unrestricted by length).

The RYA Day Skipper Shorebased theory course will help you become involved with onboard navigation and passage planning or become a skipper. This course is ideal for UK professionals involved in managing or designing safety-related control systems in machinery.

Safe casualty assessment and handling.

This 3 hour training course has been designed to introduce delegates to the basic concepts of working with hose and connectors. Correct safe working practices will be discussed along with the associated dangers of fluid/pressure injection injuries.

This course covers the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) and provides delegates with a thorough knowledge of this legislation and the duties of an employer to provide safe equipment for their employees to use. The course explains the implications of modifying machines and the steps that need to be taken to evaluate new machines.

Rack safety inspections are required to prevent and minimise the effects of accidents, to comply with the requirements of PUWER 1998 and to promote safety in the workplace

Legionella Responsible Person Training Course provides a detailed insight into legionella management. This includes evaluating water treatment options for hot and cold water systems.

The Yachtmaster Power (Coastal and Offshore) Certificates of Competence Courses are run together. Whilst the syllabus for each is very similar, the Offshore candidate requires more logged sea time and will be pushed harder in the exam.
